This comprehensive 15-month Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology (PGDICP) part-time programme instils the candidate a range of theoretical, analytical, conceptual and functional skills in counselling. While understanding the underlying theories, the candidate is also able to apply appropriate counselling skills in different situations. This graduate programme enables the successful candidate to work effectively as a counsellor.

The course is to be delivered through online conferencing applications such as Zoom.

QUALITY MONITORING

Each lesson is recorded and the recordings will be saved to a password protected depository (e.g. cloud or hard disk storage) up to 3 months after the last class. The recordings may be retrieved for review purpose by the Academic Board. Feedback is also conducted for both lecturers and students at the end of each module to gather responses on the strengths and areas for improvements.

The programme expects candidates to complete individual and/or group written assignments, and/or written examination, depending on the modular criteria. Students must attend 75% of the classes to qualify for the examination.

CAE requires a minimum 90% attendance each month from its international students on ICA’s Student Pass.

To achieve a pass in a module, students must achieve at least 50% combining both written assignment and final examination.

Candidates must also submit a written report upon fulfilling the compulsory practicum hours, to graduate from the course.

Students must successfully complete and pass all the stipulated course modules to be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology.

For admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology programme:

1 For applicants who do not meet the above entry requirements, on a case-by-case basis, they are required to take on bridging modules FIRST, before enrolling into this course.

2 For applicants who possess a related Degree (i.e. Counselling, Psychology), module exemptions will be made at the discretion of the College.

PGDICP students who wish to qualify as a registered Counsellor with SAC must engage and bear an additional cost directly to a registered practicum supervisor. The additional cost of engaging such a supervisor is around $100.00 per hour. Prices and fees are subject to change.

The existing Graduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology (GDICP) lessons will be taught out.
