Speech disorders affect anywhere from 8-9% of the population and can include issues with stuttering, slurred speech, and can also make children susceptible to bullying as they will have issues with basic communications with their peer; and can slow down their learning in school.

The prevalence of voice, speech, language, or swallowing disorders is highest among children ages 3-6 (11.0 percent), compared to children ages 7-10 (9.3 percent), and children ages 11-17 (4.9 percent).

For this reason, it is most critical to be able to provide speech therapy to children between birth and three years old, the period where their brain is maturing and their capacity to learn is rapidly increasing.
