Jim Ismael Omar Bek

Mr. Jim Bek is a certified Psychotherapist with over 20,000 clinical contact hours and is trained in Special Needs, Mental Health, Youth & Family Violence, and Play Therapy.

Mr. Jim Bek received his master’s degree in counselling from Monash University, Australia. He also has a Diploma in Clinical Supervision as well as a Certificate in Psychiatric Rehabilitation. He was appointed Clinical Supervisor in Monash University, James Cook University, Swinburne University of Technology, Nanyang Polytechnic, and National Institute of Education.

Mr. Jim Bek joined College of Allied Educators as an academic and examination board member in 2015 and was President of Singapore Association for Counselling from 2011-2016, Centre for Men & Families, Vice-President for Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped, and an Executive Committee for Mendaki Youth Programme.

He has also been a School Counsellor for Ministry of Education and been posted to Pasir Ris Primary School, Greendale Secondary School, and Montfort Secondary School. His role as a School Counsellor included identification and outreach to students and students with special needs with emotional and behavioural issues. He provided mentoring, coaching, career guidance, counselling, and ran school-based programmes.

Mr. Jim Bek’s professional memberships include Singapore Association for Counselling, Singapore Association of Social Workers, U.S. Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association, and Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped, among other memberships.
