Why do I feel so lost?

Why do I feel so lost?

When people say they feel lost, it could mean any number of things. It could mean they feel aimless in their job or personal life. It could mean they don’t feel like they have anything purposeful to work towards. It could mean they feel physically and emotionally distant and alone.

Feeling lost isn’t an uncommon feeling. Understanding which area of our lives we are feeling lost in and why we are feeling lost isn’t so straightforward. It can often be confusing and feel like a jumbled mess of little bits of everything.

You can feel lost and aimless in your professional or personal life, or even both. This means that you may be performing your role at work or at home, but you don’t know why you are doing it. You may be doing things simply for the sake of it, because it was expected of you, or set for you by someone else and their expectations. There is a good chance you don’t even know if you even like what you are doing, and it just doesn’t bring you any real sense of satisfaction.

You can feel like you’re doing things without any purpose or without any sense of reason and importance. At the end of the day, you could be left wondering what importance this has to anything, or what is the importance of this for you. It’s not uncommon to feel this way when you are working towards a long term goal, and you don’t see results in the short or medium term. Studying and education can often feel like this. Working towards a healthy mind and body can very often feel like this.

You can even be feeling physically and emotionally isolated and alone. You can feel this way even in a crowd of people. In fact, it’s likely you might feel this way exactly because you are in a crowd of people because you are in a crowd of people but lack any connection to any of them. It can make you feel incredibly lonely. This feeling of isolation can be the result of emotional distress you are going through. You may be having a tough time at work or in your relationships and you feel no one understands or is on your side. It could make you pull back from connecting with people and result in your emotional isolation. When this happens, even the physical presence of people around you won’t change that feeling.

There are more ways that you can be lost of feel lost. Often, you may not immediately recognise the feeling until it’s really acute as it creeps up on you. This may be the case if you struggle with introspection, self-love, and self-care. Even for those who are more introspective, feeling lost and knowing why can be difficult as we confuse it with so many other issues we may be facing in our lives. However, it’s worth taking the time to consider, and deal with the issue because our happiness depends on it.
