Dyspraxia is a neurological condition that affects a child’s physical coordination and movement. It’s also known as Developmental Coordination Disorder. Here are 5 signs of Dyspraxia:
- Difficulty adapting to school routines
- Limited attention span and poor listening
- Limited memory
- Easily distressed and emotional
- Isolation from peers
Dyspraxia can also impair balance and the ability to walk and jump. It can also affect fine motor skills and may impair their academic performance in activities like reading, writing, and speech; despite being of average to higher intelligence.
The signs of Dyspraxia can be very misleading. Many of the symptoms can be commonly confused for other learning disorders like ADHD, which can throw off or confound educators and parents. To be able to properly help children affected by specific learning disorders, an accurate diagnosis is necessary and critical at an early age.
